Personal Statement
My name is Kyrstin Calleja and I am a 2020 graduate at Gilbert High School in Gilbert, AZ. I am a hard-working student athlete that strives to excel in the classroom and on the softball field. Working with animals and playing softball are my two passions and are the center of what I would like to accomplish in college.
I aspire to be a research professor that specializes in studying penguins and I am looking for a college with a good biology or marine biology program. My grades are important to me (3.79 GPA) and I am always academically eligible. On the field I am a speedy Centerfielder (2.75 seconds Home to 1st) that loves diving to take away a hit and stealing bases. I was a catcher for several years before switching to outfield full time and think that the time behind the plate has given me a solid understanding of the game. I love being on the field and being part of a team and I want to continue playing in college as a way to help achieve my academic goals and so that I can keep playing against the best competition possible.
I think my best strengths as a player are my academics, I am coachable, and adaptability to different situations. I also take a lot pride in my work ethic. I might not always be the best player on the team, but I will always try to work the hardest. I will always give my best effort regardless if we are winning by 10 runs or losing by 10 runs. I am committed to giving my all on the field and in the classroom and look forward to playing this amazing game at the next level.
