Hello my name is Ariana Luna and I'm a 2021 Catcher from Hanford California. I currently attend Lemoore Middle College High School but I play softball for Lemoore High School. I play for Wolverines - Romo out of Madera CA. The reason I chose my high school was because it gave me the opportunity to get an AA by the time I graduated from high school and I'm projected to finish an AA in Liberal Arts with a specialization in Math and Science. Balancing college courses, my regular high school classes, travel ball, and recently school ball had it struggles. Yet, it has totally prepared me to handle the busy life of a college athlete.
I started softball as soon as my feet fit into a pair of cleats and was tricked into being a catcher by my Dad saying I would be the "boss". Although I didn't understand the challenge of this I have really filled that leadership role. Multiple times my parents have been complimented by not only my teammates' parents but also parents from other teams on how I command the field from behind the plate. The field is never quiet when I'm there and my team thrives off it. Not only can I dominate defensibly but also offensively. My coaches count on me to make something happen and I make other teams remember to be on their toes when I'm up to bat.
Although I was late to high school ball due to conflict in the district I got my first high school ball season last year. I walked onto varsity and was a DH because she knew she could count on me to knock some runs in. Even though the season was cut short I made sure my coach knew my work ethic and determination. All my coaches and teachers have complimented me on not only my work ethic but how I'm a natural leader and I always find myself in positions of leadership and thrive here.
