Hi, my name is Yaa Claybrook but I go by my middle name, Tiye. I am a 2025 RF/C/LF, right handed fielder and batter. I currently play for Nemesis Elite 16U located in Downey, CA, and St. Anthony High school in Long Beach, CA.
Over the years I’ve tried a number of sports with my local Parks and Recreation teams, including cheer, soccer, basketball, track, and tee ball. My introduction to tee ball in kindergarten sparked an interest that never left me. As I got older I began playing softball, and no other sport has ever compared. The thing I love most about softball is the competitiveness and the drive that the players on the team have. As an outfielder, I love that I am the last line of defense if the ball gets past the infield, and the adrenaline that comes with it.
My years of playing softball has taught me many things including; softball is a failing game but it is how you come back from it that makes the difference, and the importance of staying disciplined and having effective time management. Discipline and time management is a major key to success both on the field and in the classroom. As a straight A student in the Saints Scholars program taking rigorous courses such as AP Biology, and AP U.S. History, a member of the National Honors Society (NHS) and my school's Model United Nations (Model UN) team, staying disciplined is a way of life.
Softball has taught me a lot and I want to keep learning and developing as a scholar and an athlete at the next level. I am looking for a school that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I know that continuing to challenge myself both on and off the field will help me be successful in life.
