Ever since I was eight years old, I have had my goals set. My friend and I always said we were going to go to college, play softball, and then continue onto medical school together. Of course over time I have developed and revised my goals to fit my ideal college experience, but playing softball was always one of them. My ideal college experience involves playing softball at a highly academic school while also meeting new people and having fun.
During the past 7 years I have played softball, I have had a very unique experience battling injuries both physically and mentally. In the spring of 2019, after experiencing months of debilitating back pain, I found out I had a herniated disc in my spine. I was out of softball for 8 months waiting for my back to heal. However, in August of 2019, I had spine surgery at 14 years old. Through my recovery process, I have hardly ever missed a practice, unless it was for a doctors appointment.
As an athlete, I am responsible, coachable, and diligent. I am always the first one to take out or put away gear and I help my teammates to feel motivated to do the same thing. At school, I am always a leader and a determined student which shows through in my grades and in my academic performance. This sets me apart from other recruits because I always put in full effort, no matter the task.
