I have been playing softball since I was 9 years old. My mom was a catcher, her dad was a catcher, her brother was a catcher, my younger sister is a catcher, and I am a catcher. You could say it’s just in my blood, but it’s something more for me... I love the unique perspective of the game that catching has given me, the partnership with my pitchers and my coach, and being a leader and go-to decision-maker on the field. I catch but I also work as a utility player. I am so lucky because catching has given me a really strong understanding of the game and that knowledge and my athletic ability have allowed me to step in where and when my coaches need me. I have a strong game IQ, and that has contributed to me becoming a leader on both my current club and high school teams.
I have learned a lot about myself over the last two years. I’ve learned that I love art, I love working with children, and I thrive in a smaller classroom environment. I’ve been accepted into a program at my high school called ASCENT where I can take concurrent college enrollment classes for teaching. I work part-time as a nanny to two toddlers when I am not playing softball, and I volunteer as a Link Crew Leader for my high school, helping new students and Freshmen acclimate to the school. My goal is to become an elementary or middle school art teacher and a coach at a local high school. Getting the opportunity to play in college would help me grow my knowledge of the game even more so that I can grow into the coach and teacher that I would like to be.
