In 2010, I stepped out onto a softball field and I was automatically hooked! During that time, I was also playing basketball and volleyball. But softball stole my heart. I fell in love with the teamwork and friendships and I fell in love with the competition. From that point on, I knew exactly what my goal was... to play softball for as long as I could.
To begin my career, I played two years with a recreational softball team. I then decided that I wanted to play in a more competitive environment. I began playing for a club team called Adrenaline. Playing on that team taught me so much. Everything from commitment, to learning how to manage my time and accommodate the demands of several practices and long weekends on the field. That's where I got my first taste of pitching and the pressures it provided. I found a fantastic pitching coach in Gerald Warner, the best pitching coach in Colorado! He helped me understand the commitment required with pitching, and the demands that it would put on my time.
I played with Adrenaline for three years and then joined a new team (Crush) with entirely different girls. It was a big and intimidating move. But again, I learned so much. I quickly created new friendships that would last a lifetime. This opportunity provided my first exposure to the possibilities of continuing my career into college. How exciting to know that softball could help me obtain a college degree! To me, softball helps keep me focused. I perform really well under pressure, and I know that softball can help me through the pressures of college. The most pressure I felt was when some of the top college softball coaches in the nation showed up for a game in the Colorado Sparkler Tournament. I dug deep, focused on what I did best, and pitched a very solid game!
To me, every experience has been a learning one. My time playing softball has been priceless and I have all intentions of continuing my career into college, and extend this great time for as long as I can. That's the reason I play this game. And that's the reason I love this game!
