I started playing softball when I was 6 years old. Early on, my experience was very different than it is now. As a young player, I remember striking out a lot and not getting much playing time on the field, but I was always there trying my hardest and being a good teammate. I didn’t let my performance discourage me. I continued to show up to practice, stay late to work with my coaches so I can earn my spot on the field, and become the best player I can possibly be. I saw results because I was determined to succeed and focused on my goal to be a better player.
To this day, I haven’t let up on my commitment and dedication to the sport I love. Besides practicing with my high school and travel team, I put in extra work with a trainer and a hitting coach. I feel that my work ethic translates well to my performance in school and on the field. I primarily play infield, but can also play outfield. I believe that I am a consummate team player and will play wherever the coach thinks it will benefit the team.
One of my role models is Derek Jeter. I try to emulate his leadership qualities by leading through example and showing respect to my coaches, teachers, teammates, and fellow students. I give private lessons to young softball players in our town program and try to instill in them the same qualities that I feel have made me successful.
My love for this sport makes me want to be a better role model, teammate, and person. I would love to attend a school where I can thrive academically and athletically. I look forward to being part of a new family, on a new team, where we can create a lifetime of memories.
