Hello recruiters, my name is Taylor knight. I’m currently a 17 year old catcher and center fielder. I’ve been playing this game since I could walk yet I wasn’t like the other girls who tried out for the softball team my freshman year. I had never played softball and was required to move from baseball to softball since i was a girl. When I found this out I was devastated to know that I was going against girls who had played softball their whole lives, yet I was pleasantly surprised when I got my coaches attention my freshman year. Although I had to transfer to softball I took what I learned from baseball with me, I was treated exactly how the boys were which left me more disciplined compared to the other girls. I’m always the one to stay after practice just to get one more rep in, just one more throw to perfect my aim, just one more hit to test my limits. I have a mindset which can tell you a lot about my character which is “never quit and put %110 into all that you do” and it’s obvious to people who observe me on and off the field. If I find myself in slump I will just shake off that play and look ahead to the next play.
I don’t just apply this to athletics but to my academics too. Studying is just like practicing on the field, you practice till you’re excited for the game. I’m in all advanced classes because i love and am always ready for a challenge. Just doing something to pass is so pointless to me. If I’m going to do something I want to do it to the best of my abilities. Now don’t think that this comes natural to me because it doesn’t, so I have to make sure that I put in the work. In the end hard work and dedication will always come out on top because without that you get stuck in the same spot.
