Personal Statement
My name is Sarah Hatcher. I am a Junior at Mount De Sales Academy in Macon, Georgia. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I have played softball since I can remember. I started for my school's varsity team as a freshman and We were a young team but determined to make it to the state playoffs, and together as a team, we did. There is something so special about playing for, and representing my school. I knew then I really did want to play in college and continue to wear my school's jersey.
So for Mount De Sales, since playing on Varsity, I have caught every game. For travel ball I play 1st, Pitch, or Catch. I have made 1st Team All Region my freshman, sophomore, and just recently my junior year. I also made 1st team All State just recently my junior year.
By far the most exciting thing that has happened for me while playing just happened at the end of October 2019. Our high school team made it to the state playoffs. I guess you could say we were the underdogs and we went undefeated for 3 days and brought home the state championship for our school for the first time in 24 years. I will never forget playing the #1 team who has won state since I can remember, The Wesleyan School. Their record was 29-0. I will never forget that win and it put us in the championship game and who did we end up playing? Wesleyan again. As team captain this year I have learned so much about leadership, setting good examples, making sure we are all pumped up and believe in ourselves. I really have enjoyed that role. I have never been so proud of our entire team because everyone knew their role, had winning attitudes, and it was truly a team effort. We shut them down for their 1st time and as a team, we did it! Some of my stats during state are: 7- for 12- at the plate with 1 home run, 6 RBI's , and a BA of .583 with zero errors.
I understand the chances of playing at the college level are slim. I really hope a Coach out there gives me an opportunity to play for them in college. Softball is a huge part of my life. Not only is it something we do as a family as my mom and dad are always there, but I truly love the game and just being part of a team. I play to win and understand that to a college coach, winning is their livelihood. The losses have taught me so much more about life, myself. etc than any win has.
I really want to major and do something in the Exercise Science field. I am a hard worker both on the field and in the classroom. I consider my teammates my sisters and the team as a whole like my family. I have always been a "rule follower" and growing up with so many family members coaching at so many levels, I truly do know what is expected of me on your field. I commit to you now I will give you 100% , take whatever role I may have on your team as serious as your career is to you, and always show up with a good attitude. Thanks again for taking a look at me!
