Evelyn Smith '21 Recruiting Profile

I am looking for a school that can provide me with an great education and a positive softball experience.  I would prefer a school based in Florida as my grandparents are in Marco Island and my family plans to move there after I commit to a school. I am open to Illinois and surrounding states if the right opportunity presents itself.  A nice campus and manageable tuition are also very important to  me. I have played softball since I could basically walk and it plays a very large role in my life.  I am a very dedicated player with a passion for keeping my team positive. I am a true switch hitter and have been my whole life. I am also a very effective slapper.  My batting average has been the best on every team I have ever played for both club and varsity with the exception of 1 year of club play.  I consistently lead my team in hits and runs and my batting avg. is consistently over .400.  I had 1 strikeout in 2017/18 between both club and varsity play. I have had less than 10 strike outs in the past 3 seasons of club and varsity play combined.  I pride myself on getting on base and crossing it and my OBP/RSP is even better.   I may not be a power hitter but I get on base and I get there quickly by seeing holes in defense, slapping bunting when appropriate, and knowing where and when it's time to sacrifice.   I am the first to give other players a hand or cheer them up when they need it.  Positivity is key for me and I live my life that way. I want to be part of a team and school that can embrace this. I excel most at CF and SS but I am a true utility player in that I have experience in every position except for catcher and third base. I hope to continue my softball career into college at a high competitive level such as D1 or D2.  I am also open to NAIA if I can find the right school.
