Personal Statement
My name is Danielle Goranson and I am a 2012 graduate of Elk Grove High School. I have worked hard to be the best athlete I can be. I think I am unique because I love being in pressure situations with the game on the line. Whether on the mound or at the plate I love having the pressure on and a chance to win the game. I understand the sacrifice and commitment it takes to really be the best and I have consistently made the choice to work hard to be the best I can be. I have played AAU basketball in the summer while playing softball and I have worked with a personal trainer which has allowed me to be a major contributor on the Varsity basketball team that won the Regional championship this past season. This is in addition to the work I do with a pitching and hitting coach for softball. This year again I am on the varsity softball team and play every game either as pitcher, 3rd base or shortstop. In addition to playing on a college team that will compete with the best in the country I would like to be able to compete for a spot on a National team so I can truly challenge myself against the best in the world. I know that the things I am going through in softball will teach me how to compete in the real world. I have watched how other members of my family were able to use their athletic ability to get the best education possible. I know athletics will open doors that I may otherwise not get through. I have made the commitment and sacrifice to allow me those unique opportunities. My ultimate goal is to get the best education while competing with and against the best softball players in the world.
