Personal Statement
Hi, my Name is Austen Vickery!
I have been playing softball since I was 8 years old, fell in love with the game immediately and began playing competitive select ball at 10 for the SC Bandits, in South Carolina. Ever since I played my first game I have aspired to play college softball and have worked very hard to reach my goal. I am a very scrappy athlete on and off the field, a true triple threat, and have a very high softball IQ. I am entirely coachable and a team-oriented player. I always give 100 percent in everything I do, be it lifting weights, working on cardio, volunteering with children in my church, in the classroom, or on the ball field.
Off the field I work very hard to maintain a high GPA and stay involved in my school. I am a leader for my schools Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and have been a member of the High School Leadership Counsel leader for the past two years as well. I love volunteering at my church every Sunday in our elementary ministry.
My family is a host family for Safe Families for Children which has provided me the opportunity to love on kids that do not have the same privileges in life that I do. This is where my drive to become a Child Advocate Lawyer all started. In college I want to major in Law with a minor in Psychology focusing on children, to eventually go to law school and fulfill my dream of a career being able to give underprivileged children the voice that they deserve.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the ballfield. I am open to all options and want to find the right match at the highest level of competition level possible. I hope to become a great leader and role model to all of my peers as well as make my family proud.
