2021 HighlightsMy name is Gianna Whitehead, I am 16 years old, and a junior at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, Illinois. I have have been playing softball since I was 9 years years , and have been playing travel softball since I was 10 years old for a total of four years. As soon as I started playing softball I realized I loved the game.
I have always been the youngest on my team playing with girls that have been at least a year/grade older than me. My biggest challenge of my softball career when I played up on on my first year of 14u when I was twelve years old. Playing with and against girls 3 years and 3 grades older than me made me an even better softball player because of the competition I played against. The experience taught me patience, hard work, and gave me confidence as an athlete.
I plan to major in Pre-Med and minor in Spanish, with a goal of becoming and Emergency room doctor.
My ultimate goal is to play softball in college at the Division I level because I want to play and compete at the highest level possible. Even though playing for a highly competitive softball program is important, I prefer to find a college has a good Pre-Med program and is the right fit for me.
Overall, the game of softball has taught me to be a strong , a vocal team leader, and to persevere through games, teammates, umpires, and even weather.
