My name is Amelia Collier and I have been playing travel softball since I was in the 2nd grade. Since then, I have learned not only more about softball and how to play, but how to act and treat others in life. My aspiration through high school is to be playing at the highest level possible. I understand what it means to have a roll on a team. I am athletic with a slim build and an extremely strong arm. I am a consistent line drive hitter who capitalizes on making solid contact and takes advantage by being extremely smart on the bases. Regardless of the team I'm playing for, I will always be the most vocal player. Whether it is simply communicating between pitches or making sure all of my teammates are relaxed and ready for the next play, I take it on myself to make certain my coaches don't have to worry about the stuff we should handle as players on the field.
In the past, I have played varsity middle school tennis, competition cheer, and basketball. Freshman year, I decided to focus on softball and my schoolwork. One of my greatest assets is my willingness to listen and be coachable, whether that is from my older mentors in school or my coach or even my teammates. During my sophomore year I decided to pick up the game of golf and ended up playing the #3 spot on varsity for Avon High School.
I have a passion for leadership and enjoy being in various leadership roles. I have always been a leader on the sports teams I have played on, but my freshman and sophomore years I challenged myself to become a leader off the field. Deca is the activity I found this challenge. Deca is an organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. I held several roles on our chapter board before being elected as a sophomore to be the first female Avon Deca President for my junior year. This role will allow me to apply my natural leadership skills in a completely non-athletic setting.
When I'm not on the softball field, the golf course or in school, I enjoy getting involved in my community such as volunteering for a local nonprofit organization that helps raise money and collect food for people in need called Project Angel.
My dream is to be playing collegiate softball and to attend a college that will continue my growth in business as a leader.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
