Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember, I have been raised on a ball diamond not matter if it was a baseball field, t-ball field, or currently standing on a softball field. I have had many people influence me, but the one that stand out the most is Jenny Finch. When I was 9 years old my father took me to go watch Jenny Finch pitch her last game in Chicago. That is when I realized I wanted to become a pitcher. Since that moment, I have had coaches like John Cate, James Clark, and Jeff Kinder work with me to become the best player possible.
While playing softball, I have learned so much about myself. For instance, I have learned that there are no short cuts. In order to be successful, I must show perseverance and dedication. I have also learned that I am humble, passionate, and hungry for this sport. There have been obstacles that have stood in my way. For example, I wasn’t born with pitching skills. I found a pitching coach and have put many hours of work into honing my skills. I am still putting in many hours weekly. My unique characteristics are having solid work ethic, being a team player, and being goal driven. My academic goals for high school are to graduate with a Core 40 Diploma, receive good grades, and have outstanding attendance.
