Avery Somers '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Avery Somers and I am a Sophomore at Ellsworth Community College. I am continuing my search for a four-year school to do continue my education and softball career. Softball has become a significant part of my life and helped shape me into the person that I am today. This sport has taught me to be both a leader, a supporter and always a good teammate. My goal for my college softball career is to play at the highest level possible with success while bettering myself as an athlete. I grew up as a multi-sport athlete which gave me the skills to balance my athletics and school work very well. . I completed my high school years on the honor roll for achieving high academic grades with a GPA of 4.0. My goals have remained high for my college academics and athletics as well. 

 Throughout my softball career, I have always strived to play at the highest level attainable. I was a member of the 222's Fastpitch program for 4 years. The 222s is an elite softball program consisting of Canadian athletes that train all winter and travel to the Southern USA to compete in elite tournaments. On the 222s I played as a starting centerfielder.  I played competitive Softball in Saskatoon, the last two years with the Saskatoon Selects in which we placed 5th at Nationals two years in a row as well as winning bronze at the Canada Cup tournament. 

Self-motivation, dedication, resilience, and striving to be better than I was yesterday have been the main factors that have gotten me to where I am today as a softball player and person in general. I work hard to reach my goals and push myself to outwork those around me. I look forward to progressing my skill surrounding the game as well as continuing my softball career at a four-year school.
