Hi I am Mackenzie McAvoy and I am 14 years old Turing 15 in December. One of my collegiate goals is to be able to keep my academics in tip top shape while putting a bunch of my effort into softball. Another one of my goals is to go to a D1 school and try to get a start as a freshmen. Someone who really inspired me was a former player at the University Of Maine in Orono, her name is Janelle Bouchard. I attended a all day clinic going over anything under the sun in softball. It was pitching time and everyone brought a catcher besides me, so she decided to jump in and catch for me. I thought it was the coolest thing that the starting catcher at UMO caught for me. And that's where I get my number from, because it was her number 20. Something that makes me a very good candidate is I always put my best foot forward and try my hardest, not only in softball for academics as well. I also always have a very positive energy, and always willing to help others. Something that makes me different from other is I have a very strong mental game. I don't let anything get in my head and I stay calm and I stay in the groove of things. I don't let negative things during a game effect me and I also try to keep the same bad things from effecting my teammates. I also don't bring bad things outside of softball onto the field because that effects the whole team not just me. It brings a bad feeling over everyone else. I have a very loud personality and will always be cheering and getting everyone pumped up before and during the game. I also help coach the younger softball program in area. The age rang goes from 5-12. I also help local pitching clinics where girls sign up and I come and help new young pitchers not only how to learn to pitch but how to keep a good head game as well. I am always looking to improve and always keep a open mind when coaches tell me to try some new things. Even if I am doubt full of what their saying I know they are having me do it for a reason and to listen to what they have to say.
