I live in an area where there aren't many travel ball teams, instead I have to drive an hour away for practice. Due to this hour drive, any team I join is entirely new to me and when I first try out, I do not know a single person. But I would not be the person or player that I am today without this experience, because it has taught me these things:
1.) Practice time is precious, work hard and make the most of every minute.
2.) Every time you walk on that field, you have something to prove and should play accordingly.
3.) It's easy to stay where your comfortable and play with your friends, but what this experience has taught me about my self is this:
I want to compete.
