Shay Rexrode '26 Recruiting Profile

I'm a proud Bostonian who recently relocated to the suburbs on the South Shore. It means a lot to me to stay close to my roots during college and in the years beyond; this said, I'm looking to stay in the north east. I have a strong sense of duty to my community and have learned quite a bit about this while growing up with a public school teacher mother and firefighter father. I'm currently employed as a town recreation department lifeguard and I aspire to grow in my career within the public service sector. My ambitions have long included joining the military post-college followed by a position in public safety, or as a special education teacher. Academically, I have seen myself through many years of growth and have overcome the adversity of possessing a learning disability. I have learned to collaborate with my teachers to identify just-right strategies to optimize my learning potential and the relationships that I've built with my teachers is incredibly meaningful to me. What I believe sets me apart from the rest is that I have a keen sense of emotional intelligence which I use to effectively communicate and build relationships with those around me to be successful.
