I am Maya Barros and I have a dream of becoming a reconstructive plastic surgeon. I started playing softball seriously during my freshman year of high school and absolutely fell in love, I worked every single day. My first coach told me at the end of the season that I should never play again, that no coach would ever want me. I used that as fuel to work even harder, the summer before my junior year I tried out for one of the top club teams in the state, and I made it. I have been playing with them since and have grown so much more as a person and an athlete. I am a great student with a 4.0 GPA. I am apart of the National Honors Society at my high school and I am also the chapter president of a program called Best Buddies. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization that builds friendships between individuals with and without special needs. I have worked very hard and put in countless hours of leadership and service for the place that I am today. I take a lot of pride in the person that my academics and athletics have made me be. I have been told I have a kind heart and am a team player, I believe I would be a great asset to your team and I appreciate your time that it took to read my profile. Best wishes, Maya Barros.
