Personal Statement
My name is Marilena Tsonis and I go by the nickname Lena. I am currently a Junior at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School in New Bedford, MA. I began my softball career 8 years ago playing 10U recreational softball and my passion has grown since. I am currently the starting catcher for my high school varsity team as well as my 18U Showcase travel team, Southcoast Scream. Along with being the starting catcher for both teams I do play first base and third base. I started my varsity play when I was in 8th grade starting for New Bedford High School, New Bedford, MA. The following year as a freshman at New Bedford Voc Tech I became the starting varsity catcher where we were crowned the Vocational Champions. We went on to play in the state tournament that season where we made it to the semi-finals. Over the course of my softball career I have grown as a player and a student learning to fight to the end and never leave anything on the field and never having any regrets. I strive to learn every aspect of the sport of softball working hard on the little things that make a good player into an exceptional player. I know I will be an asset to any program I go to because I am willing to learn and succeed making myself and my team better with passion and leadership. My ultimate goal for college is to play softball for a successful Division 1 program while attaining a solid education to prepare me for the future. I appreciate your time and consideration.
