Personal Statement
My name is Addison Hill. I am in my junior year at Henry Ford II High School during the 2022-2023 academic year. I think ever since I could walk, my dad had me in the Varsity Baseball dugout with him while he coached at Stevenson High School. I fell in love with the game of baseball from that dugout bench and tried to absorb whatever I could from the coaches to learn the game from their eyes. I didn’t want to just learn how to throw and hit, but truly wanted to understand the plays and different situational moves. As soon I was old enough, I joined a travel team and have been playing ever since.
I made our high school Varsity team as a Freshman and earned the top batting average on the team for the season. I ranked 2nd for batting average in my Sophomore year with an exit velocity of 68.50. I enjoy being a team member and working hard for my coaches. As a right-handed catcher who bats left-handed, I try hard to lead the team and guide the plays on the field. The coach trusts me to call about 90% of the pitches. I also am able to play all infield positions allowing my coach to utilize me whenever needed. In addition to softball, I made the Freshman/JV basketball and volleyball teams between my Freshman and Sophomore years and was elected co-captain of our volleyball teams. This year I joined the Powerlifting team and ended up 10th in the State of Michigan with a combined lift total of 705. I plan on continuing to work with a personal trainer to build my strength and form.
I always love a challenge on or off the field. I hold a 4.03 GPA (28th in my class) with advanced classes in AP World History: Modern, Accelerated Geometry, Accelerated Algebra II, Accelerated Pre Calculu, and AP Seminar. I would like to pursue a career in Business or Project Management with a minor in Spanish. I would love to find a position in a professional baseball organization or pursue a position in social media with a musician. I am on Student Council, Spanish Club, Spanish National Honor Society, National Honor Society, and SADD. I look forward to participating in more school social events. I love working in teams and groups, building friendships and making connections.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue to grow on the field fueling my passion for the game while getting a great education. I will do my best to represent any university and my coaches in a positive light.
