Hi! My name is Keeley Hertle. I'm a senior at Rockford High School. I enjoy playing softball and hope to be able to do so while attending college this fall. I started out as a pitcher in 8U and 10U, moved to shortstop in 12U and 14U, then was moved to center field on my high school varsity team as a sophomore where I have remained. I have played both shortstop and center field positions for my 16U club team. As a hitter, I am the lead batter on my club team. I am the only slap-hitter/bunter on the team. I'm right-handed for everything but hitting; I bat left-handed. I have found this gives me the edge in getting to the base quicker. As a runner, I have been blessed with speed as my super power. This, too, contributes to my high batting average and ability to get on base. Once on base, I have no hesitation stealing bases to get to the plate. I have named my signature move a "jump slide".
I am a creative learner and learn best kinesthetically. This is why I am leaning toward an artistic career. I have struggled academically as I don't learn like others, nor do well on standardized tests. Although my learning issues may be viewed as a disability, this obstacle has self-taught me determination, persistence and perseverance in every aspect of my life. I am also a harder worker and take criticism as a challenge.
I would be incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to play a sport I love while in college!
