Personal Statement
My name is Ilencia Lightbody and I'm from Wentzville, MO. I play for Timberland High School and the Louisville Sluggers 16u Gold. I'm a catcher and outfielder with shortstop experience. I'm a right-handed lead-off hitter and utilize my 2.69 to home-to-1st speed. I am able to consistently get on base. I am always looking for ways to compete at the next level. I'm passionate above all else, which drives me to constantly work to improve my game. I stand out because I'm always hustling, whether it's sprinting to first base, off the field after an inning, or to make a play on the ball. I'm a continuous communicator as well, so I'm engaged in the game by calling out situations and cheering on my teammates. My mindset is team first; I'm willing to sacrifice myself for the sake of the team. If that means making a diving play or losing my voice from cheering so much, I'll do it! I describe my brand of softball as always on. I never stop hustling and put 100% into everything I do. You can count on me to leave everything between the lines.
In school, I maintain a 4.2 GPA by taking honors, pre-AP, and AP classes. I was in National Junior Honor Society from 6-8th grade and am working on being a member of NHS throughout my high school career. I know that academics are just as important as athletics, and am interested in studying Business or Medicine. As a student of the game, I love learning new things to improve and elevate my level of play. I can't wait to continue learning about the sport I love the most.
