Personal Statement
My name is Halley Redd and I am currently 17 years old. Sports has always been my passion. I also understand that education is the key element to my future, which I take very seriously. My love for sports started at the age of 3 when I started playing soccer; My parents, who are my biggest inspiration, noticed my natural athleticism and enthusiasm for competitive sports and decided to get me involved at a young age.
I love the game of softball! I started playing at the age of 8, after me and my family moved to Henderson, NV from Cedar City, Utah. I originally started playing as I thought it would be a fun experience, but it has become a huge part of my life ever since. Between the friendships, experiences, memories and overall competitive nature of the game, softball has shaped many aspects of my life. I started out at 3rd base in 8u, but over the years my skills have positioned me over to shortstop on my current teams. I also play 2nd as well as outfield and 3rd base. I am currently playing for Lil Rebels Gordie/TC 18u.
Team sports and the drive to become better led me to venture into other sports such as Flag Football, which I started playing my Sophomore year of High School (Covid Season Freshman Year). I earned the starting quarterback position as well as starting Linebacker on defense. . With no experience, I became one of the league leaders in QB stats as well as Defensive stats for interceptions. I was voted to the All Star Team each of the last 2 seasons. In addition to athletics, I also strive to excel in academics where i currently have a 4.1 weighted GPA.
While pursuing in my interest in Law, I am very eager to learn, grow and be challenged even further. I realize the importance of being able to multitask and that when i do graduate, i will have to balance school, sports, personal life, and an array of other things. My ultimate goal is to get a law degree, which I hope can get paid for by my athletic and academic abilities. On the field I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college softball career, I will strive to be an asset in the infield and in the batting line up. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches, and the school I attend.
