Personal Statement
I have been playing softball since I was 6 years old and my love for the game has only grown from that point. The sport has taught me leadership, commitment, hard work, and the importance of being a team player. I strive to be the best person that I can be on and off the field.
At the start of my freshman year high school season, I made the varsity team but I was asked to play a different position than I usually do. I was asked by my coach to fill the open position at third base even though I had not played there in a few years. I knew that it was in my team's best interest, so I worked hard to learn the position and between that and the games I pitched, I started every game of the season.
My primary position is pitcher. I am not stereotypical meaning that I focus on movement and location rather than speed. My success is due to my ability to mix up pitches and locate them based on what I see from the batter. I am able to look at their position in the box, hand position, and many other elements to understand what pitches I should throw. As you can see by my numbers above, I earned one of the highest RPMs at the Pennsbury camp last year.
As a career I want to be involved in health sciences, and I think that sports have influenced me to want to do that and to help people. I am looking for a program that will challenge me academically as well as athletically.
