Alex Haley '20 Recruiting Profile

I am a member of the Class of 2020 who hopes to play college softball. In 2017-18, I am in my ninth season of travel softball and a catcher for the Jersey Outlaws Premier (http://www.jerseyoutlawsfp.com/). We play 18U showcase events, completing the 2016-17 season at the Triple Crown East Coast Summer Nationals in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

My Steinert High School team won the New Jersey Group III and Tournament of Champions titles in 2018 and ranked No. 1 in the state.

I attend college clinics and camps on a regular basis, and train under John Scheese, whom I consider to be the biggest influence on my catching success. My hitting coach is Jackie Sasko of Game Time Performance and strength and conditioning coach is Lisa Cesaro-Shaltis.

Off the field, I consider myself to be an excellent, focused student who likes to be involved in classroom discussions. I concluded middle school with various academic awards, including: President's Education Awards Program - Outstanding Academic Excellence and an Academic Award of Honor for 6th-8th Grades.

Kristin Voorhees Jacobs, my Steinert High School basketball coach, who was my teacher in eighth grade, wrote the following recommendation for me while I was applying for the NFCA Northeast Academic Camp.

"Alex is as relentless in the classroom as she is on the athletic field or court. In the classroom, she refuses to do anything but her best to obtain the highest grade possible. She's a competitor, and not just when she is competing in her athletics, but in competition with herself in the classroom.
"She is also a leader in the classroom. The students are set in groups in my ELA classroom and she is always one who directs her group in the activity and is counted on to step up to help others and get the group to the end goal. Alex is a true definition of student-athlete, and I am anxiously awaiting her arrival to the high school next year and the contributions she will make both athletically and academically."
