2022 SpotlightMy name is Isabella Hurst. I will graduate in 2025 from Bayport-Blue Point High school.
I started playing softball a little later than many of the girls my age. I didn’t start playing until 6th grade on our local little league team. One of the coaches at the end of the season spoke to my parents and advised them to get me in travel as I was one of the most coachable kids he ever coached. I began that fall playing for a travel team in which I still play for. The coach I have now always said how coachable I was as well. My first season I sat the bench. I watched, I learned and would pinch run as I have the speed. The next season began and I quickly found myself in the lineup. By the third tournament I found myself lead off hitter in the lineup and their starting center fielder. In 8th Grade I played on my school's JV Team and in 9th Grade as a freshman I made the varsity team as a starting player. I often dream of being a college athlete and I have pushed myself to climb to many of the next levels. My coaches have all told me what a critical role I play on the team, not solely because of my abilities, but because of my attitude and personality. I work hard on the field and in the classroom. My grades mean a lot to me and I know that’s a huge piece of me being able to follow my dream of one day playing on a college level.
