Shaelyn Kanches ‘24 Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Shaelyn Kanches. I am currently a one sport athlete at Broadalbin-Perth High School in Broadalbin, NY. I would like to study Business Administration or Marketing in college. In school, I maintain A’s and B’s in most of my classes. These past years, the pandemic has challenged me by attending a mix of online classes and in person. I’m determined to use this experience to better myself and meet the challenge head on.

 I started playing volleyball in middle school, but my passion is and has always been softball. This season will be my 10^th year playing and my 8^th year of pitching. I made my high school varsity team in 8^th grade as a starter. I also play on a 18U travel team. For the last six years, I have played on multiple teams every year including travel, rec and school ball. The schedule is tough, but my love for the game makes it worth it. Aside from being a pitcher, I also play second base and outfield. However, I am comfortable playing any position. I feel it is important to learn every part of the game and the best way to do that is to try it out for yourself. It has always been a dream of mine to play in college. I’m excited to start this next phase of the recruiting process to make my dream come true.
