My name is Janiece Robles, I am 17 years old and this year I am a senior at Cardinal Spellman High School. In my freshman season, I pitched my team to winning the Archdiocesan and City Championship, and making history at my school, while coming in third in New York State. As for my sophmore season, unfortunately we did not make it to the championship but I was still able to pitch my team to the second round of the playoffs and end our season going 11-3. In addition to playing for my high school team, I also play for the Empire State Huskies 18U Showcase Team out of Westchester County New York. One of my major goals is to be able to play competitive softball and to be academically sound when I go to college.
I started playing softball when I was 7 years old. From watching my older brother play baseball, I aspired to be like him and become one of the best softball players in the state. I started off as a catcher, but now my current positions are pitcher and second base. As a pitcher, I have always tried to play to the best of my ability in order to win, but I now know that this is a team sport and nobody is going to win the game on their own. But, I still play my hardest and leave everything I have on the field because I never know who might be watching.
