Personal Statement
I am currently a senior at Cardinal Spellman High School. I have played club volleyball since the 7th grade and ever since I have had the dream to play in college. I am a hard worker and motivator. I do all I can to see my team succeed. My main focus every time I touch a ball is how can I implement a new thing I learned. I am always striving to be better and for improvement. I love feedback and take all comments with an open mind.
I started playing volleyball as a fun gym activity. I fell in love with the sport and decided to play at the club level. Over the years, I have seen major improvement in my skills. I started on the lowest 13s team in my club and made my way up to the top team when I was on 15s. I like to look at old videos of myself playing to see how much growth I have done. It also reminds me of how much more growth is needed. Throughout my years playing on a club team, I learned mentality is the most important thing to have. Your mentality depends how you show up to play each and every day. I have been on a team where I felt I was the worst player, and it was one of my worst seasons. I did not realize until one of the last tournaments in that season that I made the team for a reason and the coach must see something I don't. After that I was playing to my full potential because I did not think of myself as the worst player, so I did not play like the worst player. From then on, I have thought positively about my skills and do not dwell on my mistakes.
