I have had the privilege of playing on several different travel teams since I was ten years of age which has given me the opportunity to see a variety of coaching techniques. I was fortunate that the coaches I played for were focused on making us better players and teammates rather than needing to win every game. Although winning is important too, sometimes I learned more from the games that were lost.
As a three-sport athlete, I understand that every person on every team plays a specific role and is just as important as the other. Since 7th grade, I have been a starting varsity pitcher and in 8th grade, I was the starting goalie on my varsity soccer team and a starting guard on my varsity basketball team. Because I was playing three varsity sports by eighth grade, I have been playing with older, more experienced players who have taught me many leadership skills.
I grew up watching two older brothers and several cousins who had a profound love for baseball and softball and I knew that I wanted to play too! On top of that, my great grandfather was invited to play with the St. Louis Cardinals but unfortunately he was sent to the Korean War. To this day, he comes to almost every one of my games at 91 years of age. My love for sports has been passed on to me through generations and I hope to pass it down to my kids someday when I get the chance.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! I appreciate any interest in my future!
