Emily Nestor '25 Recruiting Profile

I was born with a glove in one hand and a bat in the other. Some of my earliest memories are playing catch with my dad. I love the game with all my heart, and my goal is to play at the highest level possible for me, while simultaneously furthering my education.

Throughout my life, in every sport I've played, I've been constantly told how coachable I am. It used to bother me. Other girls would get awards like "Best Dancing in the Outfield," or "Master of the Bat Flip," and everyone would laugh. Mine, though, it was always, "Most Coachable." I hated it. It wasn't cool, and it wasn't funny, but over time I've learned that this aspect of my personality has allowed me to further my athletic abilities far more than any girl who was ever told that they had the best dancing in the outfield. I aim to lead by example, always pushing myself to perform to the best of my ability. I give 110% all day every day, and am able to take advice and work with it. 

While I mainly play shortstop, I’m an extremely versatile player, having played almost all positions at some point in my life. I throw around 60 mph, and the footwork that goes along with fielding comes naturally to me. Offensively, I’m very consistent, maintaining a BA just under .500 during my 2022 travel season. I have a strong swing, with a bat exit velocity in the high 60s, but I generally aim for contact rather than power. Through Softball Factory, I have qualified for multiple national events, and was selected as a 2023 Pre-Season All-American, although I was not able to attend the event. At the end of my freshman year (2022), I was pulled up to varsity at one of the largest schools in the area, and we placed 2nd in states. 

Just like on the field, I strive to be the best version of myself academically, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, along with taking all honors and AP classes, and being inducted into Junior National Honor Society.
