Personal Statement
I’ve been wanting to play college softball since I knew this sports was going to be an important part of my life. Softball became more serious to me two or three years ago. It started when I began watching college softball on TV. I started looking at different colleges and learning about their teams. I started to get super interested in what I was learning about how different the college level was compared to what I play now. I believe as I continue to improve on my athletic path, I’ll be able to compete at a competitive college level, like NCAA D1 or D2. I would like to continue to be in the softball community, and to be able to witness the growth of the sport.
Softball has had a huge impact on my lifestyle in general. When I first came to my new team, which was about two years ago, I was more known for my pitching skills rather than my ability to play other positions. Once I moved teams I immediately started learning new techniques, skills, and drills. I started attending clinics, which opened up an even bigger variety of drills and exercises. Being on the team I am on has also increased my confidence. I do try my best to spread positivity, especially during a hard or frustrating game.
Getting onto a NCAA D1 or D2 college softball team would be a massive opportunity for me. I would really like to be able to pitch, play shortstop, and maybe even third base or outfield. I’m currently interested in athletic medicine to become a sports/athletic trainer or study education to become a teacher. If I were to become a teacher I would probably want to teach at middle or high school level, so that way I could have a chance to become a coach for a school team. A big goal that I would really like to accomplish is to get a scholarship to attend college and play softball.
