I am a 5'9" center fielder from Raleigh, NC. I have been on the varsity team at Middle Creek High since my freshman year. (2020 graduate). My most important accomplishments from this past year were being a starter, making 1st team All-Conference, All-District team, All-State team, and playing in the Powerade State Games for Region 3. I am also the starting center fielder for my travel team, North Carolina Challengers Select.
Knowing there is an opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level while getting a high education that will allow for a future, makes me work harder to try to be able to use that opportunity. With this opportunity, I would then be able to offer to the team leadership. I lead my teams in warm-ups, drills, and all communications between teammates. I also bring hard-work by putting everything I've got into practices in order to get everything out of the drills and to earn my spot.
Where I want to go to school, location wise, is very open. While being near friends and family is nice, being in new places, making a way for myself, and meeting the friends I'll be friends with for life is something you get by going out of your comfort zone or just somewhere else. That's something I want to experience for myself. Whether it be an hour from home or across the country.
The type of school I want to attend can range from a smaller school where the student body grows together to a large school where students are more of a number than a name. I want to experience a good campus atmosphere with good people who want the same thing I do; a good education that prepares us for life. As for education level, I want the highest level I can get in the field I want to major in. The division level I would like to go to is D1 or D2 because it involves the type of work I want to put in and the success I want to get out.
I have not determined the field I want to major in, but I have narrowed it down to three. The three I've narrowed it down to are psychology, criminal law, or sports medicine/orthopedics.
My goals for college softball are to make an impact on the team, whether it be through giving my all on the field as a freshman or by cheering, supporting, and pushing my teammates until it's my time or I prove myself worthy. I am one who loves competition. I turn everything between my brother and me into a competition just because it adds more fun to whatever we are doing. That's why I want to play at the highest competition level possible.
Softball is not just a game to me. It's a lifestyle. I live and breathe this game when I'm not at school, and even then, the game still has its impacts on the way I live my life. You have to apply the lessons you learn through softball into daily life. That, among others, is one of the many things I've taken away from this game.
