Personal Statement
From the time I took my first step, I had a softball in my hand. My father was an amazing softball player who passed his passion for softball onto me. I began playing on softball teams when I was 6 years old, and I was hooked. When I was 10, I began watching the Women’s College World Series on TV, and I told myself that I wanted be there one day. Watching these women play inspired me to want to play softball in college. When I was 11, my dad was inducted in the ND Softball Hall of Fame, and I vowed that I would follow in his footsteps. I am a 2023 pitcher/ infielder. I am very focused on my goals both on and off the field. I am currently a junior in high school, and I work extremely hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA. My high school co-ops with the Beulah Miners for softball. While playing for the Miners, I was named to the All Sub-Region Team my 7th and 8th grade years. Due to Covid, our spring season was cancelled, so I did not play my freshman year. Last year (sophomore year) I was named to the All Sub-Region, All Region, and All State teams. My team took 5th in the state, and I was the starting pitcher for all of those games. My travel team, The River City Wolfpack has appeared in the championship of the ND JO State Tournament seven times in our seven seasons of playing. We finished runner-up twice, and we were crowned the champions five times. I would say my grit and mental strength to pitch multiple games a day for both school and travel ball is what sets me apart from other recruits. I also bring more to the field than just pitching. I am the lead off hitter and am always working to improve my base running, hitting, and fielding. I also strive to be a leader on and off the field. I also participate in volleyball and basketball and have been named to the All-Region team at least once in each of these sports. However, it has been softball that has been my true passion since I was a little girl, and I can not wait to see what softball has in store for me in the future.
