My name is Elizabeth Carney, but my teammates call me Beth. I am a Senior at Salisbury High School in Allentown, PA where I have been the varsity starting pitcher for 3 years. In the fall and summer, I play for the Outlaws 18U - Cole team. Outside of school and softball I love to paint, play with my dogs, anything outdoors, and spend time with my friends and family.
Being inducted into the National Honor Society my Sophomore year was a defining moment for me both academically and personally. The characteristics they use to judge candidates are ones that are very important to me. Character: It is important to me to do the right thing, especially when it isn’t easy. Service: This is very important to me because my sister, Olivia, has Down syndrome. I am a member of the junior board for Camelot for Children. Places like Camelot allow her to experience summer camp, dances, activities, and field trips like other kids do. Scholarship: I believe if you work hard enough, you can be great at both sports and academics. Leadership: A very important part of leading is to listen and hear what others have to say. I try my best to be a good listener and lead by example.
Over the past few years, I have lost people that are very important to me, and I’ve learned what is important in life and where I should be spending my time and energy. This has helped me become a stronger person and fueled my drive to be the best I can be in life, school, and softball. My dream is to continue to play softball in college, where I will work toward earning my degree in Psychology to be able to help others, while giving my all on the softball field. I enjoy being part of a team and can't wait to experience that wherever life takes me.
