Personal Statement
I started playing softball after growing up on the field watching my 3 older brothers play baseball. The very first time I put on the catcher’s gear and got behind the plate, I felt at home. My dad has not been consistently around since I was a baby due to his drug addiction. Softball has always been my escape, my place to forget all of my problems and fears.
I have been playing tournament ball since I was a 10 year old on a 12U team. My room is filled with medals and trophies, but more important is how softball has shaped my life. I have learned about commitment and dedication. I have missed parties and vacations to keep my commitment to my team. I have learned about how practice and repetition pay off at game time. I have learned to be a leader, I need to keep the team moral up not only when we are having fun and winning but also when we are being beat. All of these things will help me to be an asset to any future team, and also for being successful in life in general.
I would love to continue playing in college, and beyond. I am interested in business and marketing. I think that my skills, leadership and attitude will make an immediate impact on my team.
