The highlight of my softball career was winning fifth place at the East Coast Nationals. However, I knew I wanted to be a successful softball player when we did not win our States Tournament. This loss motivated me to want to work even harder, so we could do well in Nationals. I have been playing softball since I was seven years old but I became interested in playing at the college level when I joined my first travel team. I have learned the benefit of commitment, teamwork, and trusting my other teammates to do their job. These skills that I have learned through softball will help me to achieve my academic goals, which is to get distinguished honor roll in high school and, after high school, to get my bachelors degree in Nursing.
I had to overcome many obstacles to get to where I am today. For example, my first year of travel ball, I was not confident at the plate. I overcame this by going outside and hitting fifty balls off the tee every day. Eventually, I saw big improvements on my confidence and skill. In addition, I had to overcome playing second base as a left handed player, but with hard-work and dedication, I became the starting second baseman for my travel team. As a committed full-time softball player, I know I am able to show leadership, hard-work, and teamwork on your team!
