My name is Ainsley Hinz, I am 17 years old and I’m from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The game of softball is one that has been a part of my life ever since I was 5 years old and a game that I love. Academics is extremely important to me and I’m hopeful that my love of softball can help in leading me to an opportunity that will push me. I’m looking for the opportunity to attend a school that challenges me academically, athletically and gives me an opportunity to experience a new part of the world. While I’m not fully sure of which direction that I want go in my future career, I believe it will be in the direction of a business degree.
I am a left-handed pitcher that relies on spin and control. My changeup is my best pitch and I’m confident to throw it in any count. I also play first. I am a hitter that looks to have a high OBP, hit for power to both gaps but also stay patient and take walks when the opportunity arises. I believe my coaches would agree that I’m coachable, have a high ball IQ and am a positive, team first player.
I have been fortunate to be part of some great softball teams growing up and have competed on teams both in provincial and national championships in Canada. When our team did not qualify for nationals, I was also fortunate to be picked up to pitch for other teams at the National championships. Unfortunately, due to Covid, our past two national championships have been cancelled. That said, I was fortunate to win a U19 provincial championship with the Saskatoon Selects as a 17-year-old player first year player. Our team participated in the Saskatoon Senior women’s league which is comprised of many current and former US college players and I was able to have success in that league despite still having a year of high school remaining. I have also been part of the 222s winter travel team program and have participated in tournaments throughout Florida and California. While travel wasn’t allowed last winter for Canadians to the US, I am looking forward to returning to those tournaments this winter with this highly competitive select program.
I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to review my profile.
