Hello, My name is Madalyn Humphries. I am a senior at Goose Creek High School, SC. I've been playing softball for almost 9 years now. I can absolutely say I'm in love with the game, yet when I was 10 it would've been a different story. See I started because of my niece. She always looked up to me and I wanted to lead her in the right direction. With that being said, she started to lean towards softball. I was stoked because this was the first decision she truly made herself. Everyday I helped her practice, but as soon as I touched that softball it was inevitable.
Since she was 4 at the time, she quit soon after. Leaving me attached to the sport. Softball has taught me many skills that school never will. How to forgive yourself, thinking under pressure and even that failure is ok. Whether times get hard or we're 10-0 I step up and lead. I always give my all with everything I do. There's never a moment that I won't get down and dirty.
Whatever college team I end up on I know that I'll be a great asset. Whether on the bench or on the field, because I always strive to cheer others on and lift them up. It is my dream to be on team thats sticks together through ups and downs. That comes out victorious even when we don't leave with a trophy. I can not wait to go through that journey.
Thanks for taking the time to read my statement
Respectfully, Madalyn
