Hello Coach.
My name is Madison Buckner, a 2027 LHP (1B/SS/3B) from Texas with a passion for excelling both on and off the softball field. As I embark on this journey to pursue my dreams of playing collegiate softball, I want to convey my dedication to becoming a student-athlete who succeeds in the game and aspires to mentor up-and-coming softball players.
As an HS Sophmore, statistically, my average pitching speed currently is around 45-55 mph, and throw changeups of approximately 40-45. I am working with a dedicated pitching coach who pitched in 3 College World Series to increase velocity while perfecting ball placement in various pockets/spots over the plate. Standing currently at 5’4” and 124 lbs, I play 1B,3B, and SS when not pitching. I am a gap batter who favors the left side of the outfield but have been known to hit line drives right up the middle throwing the defense off their feet.
As a player, one of the most common ways my coaches describe me is cool and collected. I believe my classroom intelligence, softball IQ, drive for perfection, and ability to disrupt hitter's timing, are just a few things I can bring to the table for your program if given the opportunity to prove myself. Softball has been a significant part of my life since I first stepped onto the field as a young girl. It has taught me valuable life lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and resilience. Through countless hours of practice, I have developed my skills as a left-handed pitcher, and I am committed to continuing this journey at the collegiate level.
Academically, I understand the importance of maintaining a strong balance between my studies and my athletic pursuits. I am a dedicated student who takes pride in my academic achievements, and I am eager to excel in the classroom while representing my future college as a student-athlete. My goal is to not only perform on the softball diamond but also in the classroom, where I plan to major in a field that will allow me to contribute positively to society. I have a 3.6 GPA and intend on pursuing a medical career, most likely in a specialized Nursing field.
One of my most profound aspirations is to serve as a mentor to young softball players who dream of reaching their full potential in the sport. I believe that by sharing my experiences, knowledge, passion for the game, and my story of how I rose from 6U league ball to standing on a collegiate mound, I can inspire and guide others to achieve their goals. Softball has given me so much, and I am eager to give back by helping the next generation of athletes develop their skills and confidence.
My journey as a student-athlete has taught me the importance of hard work, discipline, and determination. I am fully committed to putting in the effort required to excel both academically and athletically at the collegiate level. I am looking for a college that shares my values and supports my goals, both on and off the field.
To college coaches looking at me, I want to say that I am not just a left-handed pitcher but a student-athlete with a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others. I am determined to be a leader on and off the field, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the success of your program.
Thank you for considering me as a potential member of your softball team. I am eager to learn, grow, and compete at the next level while pursuing my dreams and helping others achieve theirs. I look forward to the possibility of joining your college community and becoming a part of your softball program.
I look forward to hearing from you! Please feel free to call or text as well.
Respectfully,
Madison Buckner
