Sloane Kocian '27 Recruiting Profile

I am all heart with my faith, family, academics, and sports. After suffering an ACL, meniscus, and MCL knee injury, pre-hab, surgery, and now in re-hab, I have learned that life can change in a split second. While it was devastating at the time, I have learned from my journey that I will overcome this setback, and I am even more driven to come back even stronger. I am athletic and involved in school volleyball, basketball, and softball, while maintaining academic excellence and earning high honors. Of all the sports, softball is my #1 favorite. I started playing at 8 and kept on going. I've learned that there is always so much to learn about the game, whether sitting on the bench or starting on the field. There is always room for improvement, from being teachable, being an encouraging teammate, to running bases, working bases, backing up bases, hitting techniques, catching, as well as overall improvement. There is such an art to this game, and I am looking forward to all I can learn and experience to prepare me for the college level. I am a high-achieving academic student, coachable, competitive, and driven. I am a go-getter and will do what it takes to reach my goals. I look forward to the day I let my family know that I will be that young lady on the TV playing that college softball game!
