My name is Jasmyne Marshall-Henderson and I am dedicated to softball. Playing has given my life direction and great joy. Honestly, I thought after my senior year in high school I wouldn’t want to play anymore, but softball is apart of me. Softball makes me who I am. It taught me how to be aggressive, compete, as well as develop confidence and leadership skills. Softball is my outlet, and it lets me have fun while being competitive. I also love the bond you create with teammates. They become your sisters and have your back while you have theirs. No matter who is on my team or who I am competing against, just playing gives me a good vibe and is so much fun.
I want to continue my 7+ year journey of playing softball in college. In college, the skills I learned in softball will be useful tools that can help me academically and professionally as I pursue a career in education. As a student athlete you must be great with time management, teamwork, work ethic, networking and developing relationships. When become part of a team, I will commit to bring fun and upbeat energy to the team. No matter what, I will always give my best effort. One of the most important lessons I have learned through softball, is that it’s not always only about winning, it’s the journey; win or lose it’s what you “learn” along the way.
