Lee Smedstad '27 Recruiting Profile

My name is Lee Smedstad, and I am a 5’5 shortstop/ utility player. My love for the game started when I first stepped foot on a softball field when I was 5. Since softball has been a big part of my life, I would not be the same person without it. I love softball because it has shaped me into who I am today. It has brought some of the best people into my life, and without them constantly pushing me to be my best, I would not be where I am today.

Softball continues to teach me lessons that I apply not only on the field but to my life off the field as well. One of the biggest lessons that my coach taught me is that failure is only true failure when you give up and don’t learn from your mistakes.  So, I will continue to play with passion and do what I love fearlessly.

In addition to softball, academics are very important to me. I want to attend a college that will challenge me academically and push me outside my comfort zone. I’ve been in advanced classes from a young age and constantly seek that extra push. I’m a straight-A student and love working hard to achieve my goals. Not only am I highly competitive to do well in school, but I am also highly competitive on the field too. I am a player who not only adapts to feedback quickly but also takes joy in her teammates' successes. I bring hard work, persistence, and dedication to everything I do, and I support everyone around me. I will undoubtedly strengthen the community on and off the field and am eager to see where my leadership, hard work, and encouragement for others will take me!
