My name is Abby Muelrath and I am currently a senior at West Allis Nathan Hale in Wisconsin. My goal is to play softball competitively in college while obtaining a quality education. As a freshman, I made the Varsity Softball Team as the starting pitcher. I pitched 21 games, started 19 games and completed 16 games. My school team was ranked 4th in our conference. I received the Rookie of the Year Award. This year I am the starting Varsity pitcher again. With our defense, my greatest accomplishment sophmore year is throwing back-to-back shut out games. At the end of the season, I received Second Team All Conference and All Suburban Area Honorable Mention.
I started playing softball 10 years ago and I fell in love with the game. My first year of softball I played outfield and I wanted to be more involved in every play of the game and that is why I began pitching. I have taken private pitching lessons throughout my entire softball career to keep perfecting and improving my pitching. I have played travel ball since 2012. Each year with my travel ball team, I have been the primary pitcher. I have never missed a game do to an injury, as I am very diligent in making sure that I take care of myself by properly stretching and icing.
Over the past year and a half, I joined Delta Performance and their 18u College Showcase Team. They are a collegiate training facility. I’ve been working with them weighting lifting, hitting, and pitching year round. We train 3-4 days per week. My max dead lift is 205. Last winter my top pitching velocity went from 55mph to 58.1mph. My exit velocity is 66.7mph. I’m continuing to work with their programs to grow and prepare for the college level.
