Highlight Reel 2016I first started playing basketball when I was eight years old and I tried out for a basketball team for my church, but it was fourth graders only. I was in third grade when I tried out, but I fortunately made the team and that was the first time I had ever played competitive basketball. I have a tendency to surprise myself and others with my basketball abilities and in life. Before I reached the age of ten I wanted to get my black belt in mixed martial arts. I fit in extra sessions with my sensei and went to more classes until I eventually got invited to test for the forty-eight hour black belt test and ceremony. I luckily completed it and earned my first degree black belt at nine years old, two days before I turned ten. Going through my training for my black belt, it helped me to see how many things I was actually capable of doing and inspired me greatly for the future.
As a freshman on such a high intensity basketball team, I was taught a tremendous amount about not giving up and always putting forth my best efforts in practices, games, and school. It also helped me to gain more maturity, responsibility, and leadership. I work well with my teammates and know how to play using their advantages as well as mine. I have worked with many different coaches and trainers who have all showed me different things that I have either learned, or have added to my game. They and my teammates have made me develop a great sense of court awareness and basketball IQ from my years of playing the sport that will make me a great addition to your team.
