Personal Statement
I have been playing basketball since I was eight years old. I knew once I started I wanted to play at the college level. I absolutely love the game and constantly strive to be better. I watch women’s college teams and WNBA teams on TV, the players inspire me to play better and I learn things just by watching them.
I have good court vision, good outside range, and I’ve had experience in all positions on the court. My ball handling is not where I want it to be, but I am always working to get better. I’ve also overcome the stereotype of being tall means you play in the post by showing my talent for shooting. My high basketball IQ helps me to make the right decisions in clutch moments when needed. I am becoming more of a team leader as I get older and have the desire to make my teammates better as well as myself. I try to develop strong relationships with my coaches and better myself by taking their advice to heart.
I work hard in all my classes and maintain a high standard of all A’s for myself. I strive to be a role model for my peers on and off the basketball court. I am currently in NJHS for my elementary school and will work hard to join NHS in high school. I love to have fun playing basketball and have the mindset every game that I want to win. Even though I am only in eighth grade, I am playing on a 15U as well as a 17U AZ Shock AAU teams. This level of competition constantly pushes me to be the best that I can be.
I want to go to a college that pushes me academically as well as athletically. However, I am open to all options and hope that I can play at the highest level of competition possible. I haven’t decided what my major is yet but I hope to be able to narrow it down as I continue my educational path.
