Personal Statement

Good Day from Australia!

I am a hard working Student-Athlete in my final year of Senior High. I love Basketball, God and my family. My dream is to become a Sports teacher and to play NAIA basketball.

Playing as a shooting guard starter on my U19 DIV 1 school team and having just finished my final season in Victoria's Junior Representative Basketball,  I am known for my accurate shooting & defensive skills.  At the end of games coaches of the opposing team always comment on this & my ability to be everywhere!  My motto is "Stay humble, Hustle hard."

In 2025 our school  3X3 team placed Third in State, was in the "Elite 8" and we placed third in Victoria's Secondary Schools Championship as well as being crowned Premiers for State School Victoria U19s. We went to the National School Championships at the end of the year and I was headlined in our National Papers as I scored 50% of our team points total and averaged 15.17 PPG.

In Junior Representative Basketball and leading our team, we finished as Minor Premiers and on 12th September 2025 we won the VJBL Championship. I scored 306 points over 18 games and was the Highest Overall and Free throw scorer in our division. I was also presented with the Coaches award for Leadership, Hustle & Heart.  In 2025 I was also a Development player on our Club's Youth League 2025 Championship Women's Team (U23s) and enjoyed encouraging & coaching our club's junior players.

In 2026 I will be starting by Big V Career having earned a playing spot and winning the U20s Dandenong Championship with MVP honours for the Pakenham Warriors Championship Division Youth League Team.

Since picking up a basketball in Kinder I have always enjoyed the camaraderie of the game I love. At the beginning of my career I played as the only girl, alongside teams of boys gaining their respect and mate ship. As I  grew in my skills I  began to teach and encourage younger girls and coached U10s for two seasons earning a Volunteer of the Year award from Casey Council. During the COVID-19 lockdown I also created videos to encourage my Year 6 classmates to get outside and develop new skills as well as take care of themselves. On graduating I was presented with the Olympic Spirit Award, Leadership & Community Service Award. I aim to study Physical Education & become a teacher, encouraging and developing girls to be passionate and strong in whichever sport they choose.

This year I am my School's Sports Captain, something I am greatly enjoying. Last year, I earned many commendations and a perfect 4.0 GPA in Sports Science and Sports & Rec.  The latter I received a Government award for.

I was also our Year 11 Female School Captain. in June 2025 , sponsored by my club, I travelled interstate to attend a Youth Leadership and Business Summit to challenge myself in learning new things and  develop skills for the future. I also completed a community coaching & officiating certificate through the "She Hoops" program set up by Lauren Jackson. 32 girls were chosen from all over Australia and after attending online seminars which included topics such as  well being, confidence and leadership, we spent time together at the Australian Institute of Sport, learning from current Opals and Centre of Excellence graduates. It was an incredible experience!

I was also very fortunate to travel to the USA in December of 2025 and played as part of an international team in "She's Got Game" DC and "Nike Tournamnet of Champions" AZ. I had the best time, making friends, experiencing US culture and visiting College games & practices. Just a small taster of what's to come!

I believe that hard work can beat talent and that the skills that God gives us need to be watered to grow. It is important for me to keep challenging myself so that I grow. Playing basketball at a school with a strong Academy program has given me many opportunities to play at a higher level and to keep learning new things. I have really enjoyed Human Movement, Sports Science and the Strength  & Conditioning Subjects. Currently, alongside my VCE subjects, I am studying for  a Certificate in Sports Coaching & Recreation which will lead me to continue to nurture and teach others in the future.

I am also an A Grade Referee for junior & senior competitions and enjoy the hard work & hustle!

Outside of Basketball I enjoy outdoor pursuits, spending time with my sister and friends and being part of a small church community. Coming from Australia, I am seeking a Full Scholarship in an NAIA Christian University / College for Spring or Fall of 2027. I am looking forward to working hard, learning lots, giving much  and serving  the community that I settle into. I know that God has great things ahead and I can't wait to see where he leads me!
