Personal Statement
Growing up in Brazil, I have always loved playing basketball and would love to continue playing at the collegiate level while receiving a good education.
When I was seven, my family moved to Brazil as missionaries. During the nine years I lived in Brazil, I was able to meet and play basketball with people from all over the world. Growing up I enjoyed competing in gymnastics (Brazilian nationals in the Olympic stadium in Rio de Janeiro), volleyball, soccer, futsal (Brazilian indoor soccer) and track, but I have always enjoyed basketball the most.
While participating in sports year around, I have also been able to excel in the classroom and currently have a 4.3 GPA. While in Brazil I was thankful to be able to play on the high school varsity (under 18) team since 6th grade. During my 3 years playing on the high school varsity team while in middle school in Brazil, I was able to score over 500 points.
My freshman year I came back to the United States to play basketball while my parents remained in Brazil, since there were no sports there due to COVID. My sophomore year our family transitioned back to the United States, and I played on the varsity team once again for Waterloo Christian School. During the last three seasons, I have been able to help my team achieve the best season records since the 2009-10 season.
During my sophomore season (2021-22) I led the Iowa Star Conference in scoring with 15.9 points per game. This past 2022-23 season I once again led the conference in scoring with 18.4 points per game. Both years I was named first team all-conference, first team all-metro for the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area and received team MVP.
I enjoy pushing myself and those around me during practice as well as spending countless hours in the gym outside of practice. I love cheering on my teammates and seeing them excel and succeed. I enjoy basketball and would love to continue playing at the next level.
